Cowherd initiated his career by working for the San Diego Padres Triple-A affiliate Las Vegas Stars. Later, he turned as a sports director after being hired by KVBC in Las Vegas, Nevada. There, he became Nevada’s Sportscaster of the Year five times. He worked for WTVT as a weekend sports anchor in Tampa, Florida. He moved to Oregon in 1996 where he served for KGW-TV as a sports anchorman.
He was selected to work for ESPN Radio for e late-morning time slot (10 AM – 1 PM ET) by replacing Tony Kornheiser. He became popular through the syndicated talk radio show called The Herd with Colin Cowherd which was broadcasted from Fox Sports Radio.
He also co-hosted the TV show SportsNation on ESPN2 along with Charissa Thompson and Michelle Beadle from July 6, 2009, to 2012. When he left the program, his position as the host was replaced by Marcellus Wiley in January 2013. The same year, he turned as the host for the college football talk show Colin’s New Football Show as well as the ESPN Sunday morning pro.
As an author, his first book titled “You Herd Me! I’ll Say It If Nobody Else Will” was published in the year 2013. He released his second book after two years called “Raw” in 2015.
