Wrestling career
He made his wrestling debut with the ring name “Hardcore Wonder’ from FVWA (Fox Valley Wrestling Alliance). He was in the limelight when he turned the winner of the NWA Wisconsin X Division Championship in 2005. With Devin Diamond, he earned the SSW Tag Team Championship in May 2006. As he grabbed an opportunity to sign with WWE, he relinquished the title.
He made his televised debut on WWE as ‘Little Bastard’ on SmackDown on May 26, 2006. He was featured as the leprechaun partner of Finlay where he came out from under the ring and humped on Finlay’s opponent Paul Burchill.

He faced his father Mr. McMahon in a steel cage match on the February 18 episode of Raw where he was whipped with a leather belt by Mr. McMahon. After the match, McMahon allowed JBL to beat up Hornswoggle during which Finlay was handcuffed to the ring ropes. As a part of the storyline, WWE announced that Hornswoggle went through spinal trauma and bleeding of the brain.
He made his return on the April 18 episode of SmackDown where he became victorious over Tadpole Splash. With Finlay, he was drafted to the ECW brand during the 2008 WWE Supplemental Draft.
