He used “Último Ninja” as his ring name while initiating his professional wrestling career which me made by performing at Wrestling in Monterrey on December 16, 2012. On his first match, he teamed with El Ninja Jr. to defeat The Beast and Genocida. He worked as a wrestler in his country for about six years competing in various promotions like Chilanga Mask, Empresa Regiomontana de Lucha Libre, Nueva Generacion Xtrema, RIOT Wrestling Alliance, Lucha Libre Del Norte, Casanova Pro, The Crash Lucha Libre, Promociones MDA, Lucha Libre Azteca and many more.

While his time at Mexico, he won many recognized championships like The Crash Tag Team Championship, the PCLL Tag Team Championship, the WWA World Middleweight Championship and the LyC Tag Team Championship. He also went for wrestling in international promotions like Pro Wrestling Noah, Major League Wrestling, Baja Stars USA, Lucha Libre Mexicana and Martinez Entertainment.

WWE career

He made a big breakthrough by signing with WWE officially on October 18, 2018. However, he started making his appearance in August 2018. Before signing, he faced Jaxson Ryker on the September 19 edition of NXT.

He made his televised return by teaming with Raul Mendoza on the December 5 edition of NXT where they lost to Steve Cutler and Wesley Blake of The Forgotten Sons. He was also defeated by Johnny Gargano on the January 16, 2019 edition of NXT.

He made his main roster debut on the January 15, 2019 edition of 205 Live where he replied to the WWE Cruiserweight Champion Buddy Murphy‘s open challenge but lost to him. He was given chance by General Manager Drake Maverick to join the 205 Live Roster and participate in the WWE Worlds Collide Tournament at the Royal Rumble Axxess. He recorded his first win on the brand in the following week by being victorious against Gran Metalik. He participated in a fatal four-way elimination match on February 5, 2019. He lost the match and losing the opportunity to face Buddy Murphy for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship.

He recorded a win against Oney Lorcan on August 27, 2019, which made him grab a title shot against Drew Gulak for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship. However, he lost to Gulak and Lince Dorado in a triple threat match at Clash of Champions on September 15, 2019.

Carrillo was drafted to Raw as part of the 2019 draft. On his debut match, he lost to WWE Universal Champion Seth Rollins on the October 21 episode. He also lost to the WWE United States Champion AJ Styles two times on Raw and Crown Jewel.

His first win on the brand was recorded when he teamed with Ricochet and Randy Orton to defeat Luke Gallows, AJ Styles and Karl Anderson (The O.C.). The victory made him earn a title shot against AJ Styles but he was attacked by The O.C. before starting of the match.

He participated in the #1 Contender’s Gauntlet match for the United States Championship on the December 16 episode of Raw where he lost to Andrade. He made his return after few weeks saving Rey Mysterio from an attack by Andrade on the January 20, 2020 episode of Raw. This incident set a match between Carrillo and Andrade at the Royal Rumble for the United States Championship. However, Carrillo couldn’t earn the title at the Royal Rumble on January 26, 2020.

A rematch for the title was set in the following night on Raw during which Zelina Vega (Andrade’s manager) interfered making Andrade disqualified. Carrillo delivered Andrade his own Hammerlock DDT signature move onto the exposed concrete. After this, he started a new feud with his cousin Angel Garza who was introduced as Zelina Vega’s newest protégé. He lost to Garza at WWE Super ShowDown on February 27, 2020.

He teamed with Rey Mysterio to record a win against the team of Andrade and Garza on the March 2, 2020, episode of Raw. This win secured his chance to face for United States Championship match at Elimination Chamber. However, he lost to capture the title from Andrade on March 8, 2020.

He participated in the last chance gauntlet match on the May 4 episode of Raw where he entered fifth defeating Bobby Lashley, Angel Garza and Austin Theory. However, he couldn’t get victorious against the returning AJ Styles.

After his friend Mysterio was injured by Seth Rollins, he started a feud with Rollins and his disciple Buddy Murphy. He lost to Murphy on the May 18 episode of Raw. He teamed with Aleister Black in a losing effort against Murphy and Austin Theory on the May 25 episode of Raw. He supported Black become victorious against Rollins in the following week. Following the match, they were attacked by Rollins, Theory and Murphy.

He teamed with Aleister Black on the June 29 episode of Raw in a losing effort against Murphy and Rollins. He lost again to Murphy on the July 27 episode of Raw. Later, Rey Mysterio’s son Dominik Mysterio teamed with his father to continue the feud with Rollins and Murphy. His friend Mysterio was supported by his wife Angie Mysterio and daughter Aalyah Mysterio too.
