Bo was born as Robert Pickering Burnham on August 21, 1990, in Hamilton, Massachusetts. Talking about his family, he was born to the parents named Patricia (mother) and Scott Burnham (father). His father is known for being the owner of a construction company whereas his mother is a hospice nurse who is known for being shadowed in a 2014 episode of This American Life. He was the youngest siblings among three in the family.

Regarding his education, Bo attended John’s Preparatory School in Danvers, Massachusetts from where he completed his graduation in 2008. During his school days, he used to participate in theatre and the campus ministry program. Later, he joined the New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts to pursue his career by studying experimental theatre.

With the rise of social media and online appearances, Burnham performed two songs in a video and uploaded them on YouTube so that his family members could watch it in 2006. Those videos went viral and were appreciated by viewers from YouTube and Break.com. He began making self-described “pubescent musical comedy” songs and released several videos which made him amass a huge number of audiences. He released songs related to homosexuality, white supremacy and also about Helen Keller’s disabilities. It was produced/ distributed by A24 and was set for premiere in January 2018 at the Sundance Film Festival. He became the executive producer, writer and actor in Zach Stone Is Gonna Be Famous alongside Dave Becky, Dan Lagana and Luke Liacos. The television comedy series was unable to make its second season and ended June 26, 2013. Recently he directed the comedy-drama film entitled Eighth Grade premiered on January 19, 2018, starring Elsie Fisher, Emily Robinson, Josh Hamilton, Fred Hechinger and Jake Ryan.
