Christiane was born in 1960 in London, England. She grew up in Tehran, Iran. Talking about her parents, she is the daughter of Mahmoud Amanpour (father) and Patricia Hill (mother). For this purpose, she made her journey to Eastern Europe in 1986 where her main task was to report on the fall of European communism. In 1989, she was assigned ti report on the democratic revolutions sweeping Eastern Europe and for this, she was transferred to Frankfurt am Main, West Germany.

Her potentialities and dedication made Amanpour become a correspondent for CNN’s New York bureau. Amanpour made an announcement that she is going to join ABC News by leaving CNN on 18 March 2010. Her announcement was made on 13 December 2011.
