Rose was born on January 30, 1973, which makes his age be 47 years old as of 2020. He is a former American professional basketball player who currently works for ESPN as its current sports analyst. Even his wife Molly Qerim is working for ESPN and is considered as one of the world’s sexiest sports host. In addition to his job on ESPN, Jalen has co-founded the Jalen Rose Leadership Academy. Most of the people recognize him for co-hosting ESPN’s morning sports talk show.

 

Early Life and Education

Jalen Rose was born in Detroit, Michigan in 1973. Talking about Jalen Rose education, he went to the University of Michigan and completed his graduation in 1994. Before there, he was enrolled at Southwestern High School.

The basketball player’s biological father is Jimmy Walker (April 8, 1944 – July 2, 2007) who was also a popular basketball player. Career and Professional Life

Rose first attended Southwestern High School in Detroit from where he started his sports career. He was the teammates alongside future NBA players like Howard Eisley and Voshon Lenard. While being in the University of Michigan, he was with Wolverines which reached NCAA Finals games two times in 1992 and 1993. He was in the “Fab Five” by being the part of Wolverines coach Steve Fisher. He was also the small forward and leader of the Fab Five.

 

NBA’s Career

Rose has outstanding playing records for NBA where he played for six different teams. In the 1994 NBA draft, the Denver Nuggets selected him as the 13th overall. He played for Denver for two years and was traded to the Indiana Pacers. Jalen Rose has earned a total salary amounting $100,000,000 from his 13-year NBA career.

Jalen made a huge success in Indiana and helped the team to make its performing return after a disastrous 1996–97 season. He played a significant role in making the Indiana lead scoring in the 1999–2000 season. He averaged 18.2 points per game and earned the NBA Most Improved Player Award. He improved his performance by making an average of 25 points per game in the six-game series.

While playing for the 2001–02 season, Jalen alongside Norman Richardson was traded to the Chicago Bulls. Later he was traded to the Toronto Raptors after playing the 2003–04 season. He was traded to the New York Knicks for Antonio Davis on February 3, 2006, along with a first-round draft pick. He made an announcement on November 3, 2006, where he revealed that he would sign with the Suns. It was revealed that he had signed a $1.5 million one-year deal with Phoenix on November 7. After the 2007 NBA Playoffs, Jalen retired from a professional playing career and shifted his career towards the broadcasting career.

Jalen had since worked for at ABC/ESPN after retirement. Initially, he worked as an analyst at SportsCenter. Later, he turned as the host for NBA Countdown. He has garnered an experience of working for ESPN’s Grantland. As of now, Jalen is working as the co-host for a national US sports radio show on ESPN Radio titled Jalen & Jacoby with David Jacoby. He is also co-hosting Get Up! Since April 2008 which airs on ESPN as a three-hour morning sports talk show. He is accompanied by Michelle Beadle and Mike Greenberg for co-hosting the show.

Further, Jalen is the founder of Three Tier Entertainment, a management and production company based in Los Angeles. Three Tier Entertainment which was created in 2007, has developed numerous films and television projects. On the documentary, The Fab Five which aired on March 13, 2011, presented controversy that made a series of media exchanges between press members. It earned a rating of 2.1 and was named as the ESPNʼs highest-rated documentary. Jalen also published a book entitled “book Got to Give the People What They Want” which shows his personal story in 2015. Some online sources have stated that it was the New York Times Bestseller.

Personal Life

The former basketball player’s nationality is American and regarding his ethnicity, he is Afro-American. He is living a happy married life with Molly Qerim since 20th July 2018. They started dating since July of 2016. Talking about his past relationship, Jalen was earlier in the relationship with Mauri Goens and during their love life; the duo welcomed a baby daughter named Mariah Christen Rose in July 2000.  Mauri Goens was about to become his first wife but unfortunately the couple split. After that, he was also linked with dancer Krissy Terry and their relationship was confirmed through Jalen’s Facebook post on July 11, 2012.
