Tennis coach Mouratoglou was born in 1970 in Neuilly-sur-Seine, France. Talking about his family background, he was born to the parents from Greece. His father name is Pâris Mouratoglou Paraskevas (born on January 10, 1941) who is better known for founding EDF Énergies Nouvelles.

 

Career and Professional Life

In 1996, the French coach founded Mouratoglou Tennis Academy. It was initially located near Paris which is now located to the outskirts of Nice. He has coached renowned tennis players like Marcos Baghdatis (born on 17 June 1985), Julia Vakulenko, Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, Yanina Wickmayer, Jérémy Chardy, Laura Robson and Grigor Dimitrov.

Mouratoglou coached Marcos Baghdatis from 1999 when he was invited to his Tennis Academy in October 1999. He coached him to the final of the 2006 Australian Open. According to Mouratoglou, Baghdatis was not an athlete as all. His coaching made Baghdatis turned as a junior world No. 1 and later reach the world’s top ten in 2006.

He started coaching Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova (born on 3 July 1991) from July 2007 and within two years, Pavlyuchenkova entered the world’s top 30 and finally and reached a career-high ranking of world No. 13. In August 2009, they ended their association and eventually, Mouratoglou started coaching Aravane Rezaï (born on 14 March 1987) and Yanina Wickmayer (born on 20 October 1989).

Under his coaching, Aravane Rezaï entered the world’s top 20 in 2010 season. On the other hand, Wickmayer made her career-high ranking in April 2010 at world No. 12. In August 2010, he stopped coaching Rezaï and also stopped working with Wickmayer in April 2012.

He started serving as the coach to Laura Robson (born on 21 January 1994) in December 2010 and together worked for six months. He also coached Jérémy Chardy (born on 12 February 1987) in his academy.

He also started coaching Grigor Dimitrov (born on 16 May 1991) in March 2012 and their association ended by the September of the same year. After that, he started coaching Serena Williams. Willaims was guided by Mouratoglou in her fifth, sixth and seventh Wimbledon titles and also in her second and third French Open titles.

He also guided her sixth and seventh Australian Open title and her fourth, fifth, and sixth US Open titles. Serena made a big success in her sports career by reaching No. 1 in the WTA rankings. Mouratoglou also coached Stefanos Tsitsipas (born on 12 August 1998) in 2018 in his academy.
