Paul D. DelVecchio Jr. started his career under the moniker Pauly D as a local DJ. He gained popularity after appearing in reality television series Jersey Shore in 2009. His involvement in the music as DJ has nothing to do for his selection for the show but was chosen for his look. First, he received a message at Myspace and then sent his number to the casting directors.
They send a camera crew to Rhode Island to film Paul for a day at the gym. After six months, Paul was informed that he has been selected for the show. The appearance in the show made him garnered huge popularity and earned the 2011 Teen Choice Award for Choice Reality Star: Male.
