The African footballer was born in 1983 and her place of birth is in Soweto, South Africa. Born to the South African parents, she has spent wonderful childhood memories with her two brothers. She was interested in sports from an early age where she used to play football with her neighborhood boys. She played for her school and later started playing under the 10-level platform for Soweto Rangers. Later, she played for Jomo Cosmos’s women section and finally moved to Soweto Ladies in 1996.

Modise normally plays in mid-field of the forward role and is nicknamed after the name of male athlete Albert “Bashin” Mahlangu. She scored a total of 51 goals for Soweto Ladies during the 2001–02 regular season. She was invited to trials with Arsenal Ladies in the year 2003 during which she was able to impress Vic Akers.
