Jerry Revish is a popular television news anchor and journalist for WBNS-TV. He is noted for being the award-winning reporter for WBNS-TV since June 1980. The television journalist has made 13 Emmy awards, Associated Press awards for best feature, the Best International Reporting Award from the National Association of Black Journalists, four Edward R. Murrow Awards and much more.

 

Early Life and Education

Jerry Revish was born on March 15, 1949, which makes his age be 69 years old as of 2018. His place of birth is in Youngstown, Ohio and was born to the parents named Estelle Revish (mother) and Dewey Revish (father). Talking about his family, his father was a steelworker by profession whereas his mother used to be a homemaker. Regarding his education and academic achievements, he attended the East High School and completed his graduation from there in 1967. For pursuing his higher education, he went to Youngstown State University and Orange, California based Chapman College. There is no information about Jerry’s siblings.

 

Career and Professional Life

Revish initiated his professional media career in 1972 by joining WBBW-Radio in Youngstown, Ohio. First, he started working as a board operator. After a couple of years experience on the network, he moved to WBNS-AM/FM Radio in Columbus, Ohio and started working as an assignment editor and general assignment reporter. He turned as the newscaster for WBNS-TV in 1980. While being there, he reported on the Persian Gulf War from Saudi Arabia in the year 1990. He covered the stories like Desert Shield Diary. In 1991, he turned as the winner of Midwest Regional Emmy Award.

 

Jerry Revish presented a half-hour long documentary for which he received a prestigious award. He became the co-anchor for WBNS-TV in 1992 and has been contributing as the anchor for the 5 PM, 6 PM and 11 PM news. For his story entitled “A Return to Haiti: Rebuilding Paradise”, Jerry earned the NABJ’s Best International Reporting Award in 1996. Jerry is most active in his hometown and is proving his responsibilities towards his local community. He is noted for being the founder of The Columbus Association of Black Journalists.
