A Malaysian badminton player who was able to sustain the position of best singles player for199 consecutive weeks is Lee Chong Wei. He grabbed the position from August 8, 2008, to June 14 2012, continuously for nearly four years. Chong became very 1st Malaysian player to hold a title for more than a year and 4th international after Rashid Sidek, Roslin Hashim and Wong Choong Hann. He was born on 21st October 1982 in Began Serai, Perak, and Malaysia, belonging to a Malaysian Chinese family Chong’s first preference was basketball but later his mother insisted him to play badminton. Lee’s Badminton training began at the age of 11 years; he used to learn from a coach after his school. He went for the National Squad when he became 17 years old; in 2008 Olympics Chong brought a silver medal for his country so he was awarded a large sum of money and life time pension. Lee was also declared as the UNICEF’s Malaysia’s National Ambassador in February of 2009, this was also one of his great achievements.

After having a below average year Lee managed to kick 2008 with a mind-blowing success like his fourth Malaysia open trophy and Singapore open. In 2009n to Lee again grabbed two trophies fifth Malaysia open and second Swiss open while he lost All England open including Korea Open after reaching up to final. 2010 became the most successful year for Lee so far, he won his sixth Malaysia open, First All England open with Korea open also, the major achievement was a gold medal in Common wealth Games and Silver one in Asian games.
