When they approached Stanford to produce and sell the routers, the University refused after which they started their own company called “Cisco”. They developed the company’s router in their garage and started commercializing it in the market in 1986 by word of mouth. Within the first month, they were able to introduce contracts worth over US$200,000. The company started introducing revolutionary technology which started them dominating in the market. In 1990, the company converted to a public company and Bosack resigned following the force by the professional managers the firm’s venture capitalists brought in. Bosack and Lerner as husband and wife sold the stock for US$170 million.
