Rhona Natasha Mitra, professionally known as Rhona Mitra, is an English model, actor, singer, and songwriter. Widely popular as one Lara Croft model, Rhona is aka Eden Sinclair of the film Doomsday and Dr. Rachel Scott in a TV show The Last Ship. She was born on 9th August 1976 in Hampstead, London, England. She is of mixed race as her father, Anthony Mitra, a cosmetics surgeon is of Bengali Indian descent and mother, Nora Downey, is Irish. Rhona carries white ethnicity and British nationality. She was raised with her two siblings, older brother, Jason and younger brother, Guyan, who is a travel writer for The Sunday Times and Lonely Planet. At the age of 8, she was sent to boarding school after the divorce of her parents. Rhona attended two schools, including Roedean, but according to Mitra, she was expelled from both of them and got involved in London’s club culture for several years. The lady was interested in acting from childhood and at the age of 9; she decided to choose acting after meeting Judi Dench. So, she joined drama school then started to perform for regional theatre. Mitra started her career by portraying Scheherazade in her debut movie A Kid in Aladdin’s Palace, a fantasy adventure for children in 1997. In the same year, she appeared in an interactive video game series called Tomb Raider as the live action model for Lara Croft. Due to the role of Lara Croft, she became able to place her name to No. 46 on Maxim Hot 100 Women 2001 list. She played in many movies like Croupier, Monk Dawson, Hollow Man, The Life of David Gale, Stuck on You, Shooter, Separation City, etc. and on many TV series like The Bill, Party of Five, The Practice, Nip/Tuck, The Gates, Strike Back, The Strain, etc. In 2008, she was assigned in the lead role of the science fiction film Doomsday. In 2014 and 2015, she starred as Dr. Rachel Scott in the first two seasons of TV series The Last Ship. Rhona became a part of video games such as Tomb Raider II and Squadron 42. She was active in Discography for studio albums Come Alive (1998) and Female Icon (1999) as well as for her singles Getting Naked (1997). Mitra is also a certified permaculture farmer and she tries to save the world by helping communities in Africa plus South America teaching how to grow their own food.
