Wrestling Career

In 2005, Lopez made his wrestling debut under the ring name ‘Gixx’ in the Iowa independent scene. After that, he joined Ian Rotten’s Independent Wrestling Association Mid-South (IWA) where he was seen under the ring name Tyler Black. Later, he entered the Ted Petty Invitational Tournament where he lost to Matt Sydal in the quarterfinals on September 23, 2005.

He won the tag team championship with Marek Brave after joining NWA Midwest. He made his Ring of Honor (ROH) debut in September 2007 under the ring name ‘Tyler Black’ along with Necro Butcher and Jimmy Jacobs were the three wrestlers attacked The Briscoe Brothers

He signed a developmental contract with WWE on August 8, 2010, and was assigned to the Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW) in the following month. He appeared in a dark match marking his WWE debut on September 14. He appeared under the ring name ‘Seth Rollins’ on September 30 for FCW.

On November 4, he faced Hunico and ended the match with a 1–1 draw. He defeated Hunico on January 13, 2011, becoming the inaugural FCW Jack Brisco 15 Champion. Rollins participated Royal Rumble match on January 26, 2014, entering number 2 where he was eliminated by Reigns. Finn Balor relinquished the title following his legit shoulder injury the following night on Raw. Rollins faced Kevin Owens, Roman Reigns and Big Cass in a four-way elimination match for the title. The match was won by Kevin Owens after the interference from Triple H. While Owens was having a celebration ceremony in the September 5 episode of Raw, he was attacked by Rollins. They faced at Clash of Champions and also at Hell in a Cell but Rollins registered loss on both times because of the interferences from Chris Jericho.

He was selected as part of Team Raw along with Chris Jericho, Braun Strowman, Roman Reigns and Kevin Owens at Survivor Series where they lost to Team SmackDown. Later, Rollins faced Jericho at Roadblock: End of the Line where he came out as a winner.

In early 2017, he started having a feud with Triple H which made them compete in WrestleMania. He confronted Stephanie McMahon on the January 30 episode of Raw and called Triple H to reply to his questions for his betrayal. Rollins teamed with Jason Jordan to compete with Sheamus and Cesaro for the new Raw Tag Team Champions on the December 25 episode of Raw. He appeared in the 2018 Royal Rumble on January 28 appearing at number 18 where he got eliminated by Reigns. After that, Rollins and Jordon lose their tag team titles to Sheamus and Cesaro.

He competed in a seven-men gauntlet match on the February 19 episode of Raw where he eliminated John Cena and Roman reigns but was eliminated by Elias. He set a record of fighting for one hour and five minutes which is the longest performance in a match by any wrestler in WWE’s history. He participated at the Elimination Chamber where he e=was eliminated by Braun Strowman being the fifth man eliminated.

WrestleMania 34 took place on April 8, 2018, where he faced The Miz and Finn Balor in a triple threat match. He got victorious earning the Intercontinental Championship. This win made him the eighteenth Grand Slam Champion and the twenty-ninth Triple Crown Champion. He was kept in a rematch against The Miz at Backlash on May 6 where he became the winner and retain his title.

In May 2018, he started a feud with Elias with whom he competed at the Money in the Bank on June 17 for the Intercontinental Championship. He lost his championship to Dolph Ziggler following the distraction from Drew McIntyre. He teamed with Ambrose to face Ziggler and McIntyre for the Raw Tag Team Championship but turned to fail to capture the title. The Shield defeated Strowman, Ziggler and McIntyre in a six-man tag team match at Super Show-Down on October 6, 2018.

Roman reigns announced his returning leukemia on the October 22 episode of Raw for which he needs a break from his career. The same night, Rollins and Ambrose defeated McIntyre and Ziggler to earn the Raw Tag Team Championship but Ambrose turn on Rollins and attacked him which disbanded The Shield again.

Rollins defeated United States Champion Shinsuke Nakamura on November 18, 2018, at Survivor Series. Ambrose and Rollins went for a title match on December 16 where Rollins got defeated. He won his first Royal Rumble match on January 27, 2019, by eliminating Braun Strowman at last. He challenged Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship at WrestleMania 35 from which Rollins turned as the Universal Championship for the first time.

He met AJ Styles at Money in the Bank for the Universal Championship in May 2019 where he was able to retain his title. He also retained his title at Stomping Grounds Super ShowDown against Baron Corbin. He lost his Universal Championship to Lesnar who cashed his Money in the Bank contract. He won the opportunity to face Lesnar for the championship at SummerSlam after winning a ten-man battle royal where he eliminated Randy Orton at the last. He was able to regain the Universal Championship defeating Lesnar which made him the only wrestler to defeat Lesnar at both SummerSlam and WrestleMania.

He teamed with Strowman to defeat Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows for the Raw Tag Team Championship on the August 19 episode of Raw. They lost the title to Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode at Clash of Champions. He was able to defend his Universal Championship against Strowman but was attacked by Bray Wyatt. Rollins and Bray Wyatt faced in a Hell in a Cell match which came to an end by referee stoppage. Rollins lost his title in a fall count ending the 80 days reign.

He lost to Drew McIntyre at Money in the Bank in May 2020. The following night on Raw, he attacked Rey Mysterio and injured his eye. Later, Mysterio challenged him with an “Eye for an Eye Match” where the winner has to extract the opponent’s eyeball. The match took place on July 19, 2020, at The Horror Show at Extreme Rules where Rollins turned as the winner using the ring steps to remove Mysterio’s eye.

Rey’s son Dominik Mysterio confronted Rollins about the attack and a feud between them started. He defeated Dominik in a Street Fight. Rollins and Buddy Murphy faced the father-son team where they faced a loss. Rollins played mind games and created tensions in Mysterio’s family revealing that Rey’s daughter Aalyah Mysterio started making feelings for Murphy.
