Finn Balor was born as Fergal Devitt in 1981. His place of birth is Bray, County Wicklow, Republic of Ireland. He was born to the father named Fintan and mother Leonie. WWE’s NXT career

It was reported that Devitt has signed to join NXT with WWE on 15 May 2014 and the official confirmation was made on 28th July. Though he was popular by the ring name “Prince Devitt”, WWE announced that he was appearing as “Finn Balor.” The name was derived from Irish mythological figures. He made his debut match with partner Hideo Itami on October 23 against Justin Gabriel and Tyson Kidd. The duo defeated The Ascension at NXT TakeOver: R Evolution. By defeating Curtis Axel in the first round, Balor went to compete as number one contender’s tournament for NXT Championship. He received his title match on March 25 but was beaten by Kevin Owens.

On May 20, Balor defeated Tyler Breeze at NXT TakeOver: Unstoppable. Later, he defeated Kevin Owens to get NXT Title at The Beast in the East. On August 22, he retained the title by defeating Owens again in a ladder match at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn. He later made a pair with Samoa Joe to enter the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic tournament. The team defeated The Lucha Dragons and also beat Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady in the quarter-finals. They made their successful path by beating Dash Wilder and Scott Dawson in the semi-finals. They win the tournament by defeating Rhyno and Baron Corbin in the finals.

However, Joe later attacked Balor which created a feud between them. Joe was given a championship title match against his former team partner but was defeated by Balor for twice. Balor made the record of being the longest-reigning NXT Champion in history breaking the earlier record of 287 days. Later on 21 April, he lost his championship to Joe. His final NXT career match was on 30 July where he defeated Samoa Joe and Bobby Roode by teaming up with Shinsuke Nakamura.


RAW brand

In the 2016 WWE draft, the Irish wrestler was drafted to RAW. In the RAW brand, he made his first debut on his 35th birthday. He battled in a fatal four-way match against Kevin Owens, Rusev and Cesaro and win the match rewarding him an opportunity to fight for the new WWE Universal Championship at SummerSlam. On the other hand, Roman Reigns the four fatal matches against Sheamus, Sami Zayn and Chris Jericho. This made Balor and Reigns fighting each other in the ring where Balor got victory over Reigns and was added to the title match. Finn Balor made the history of becoming the first WWE Universal Championship on August 21 by defeating Seth Rollins. He was able to earn the title within a month of making the first appearance at WWE’s main roster.

While fighting for being the inaugural Universal Champion against Seth Rollins, Demon King Finn Balor got a shoulder injury and had to go for surgery after doing MRI. Because of the injury, Mick Foley who was the Raw General Manager at that time announced that Balor would be relinquishing his championship title as he was supposed to be out for four to six months.

After WrestleMania 33, Balor made his television return by teaming with Seth Rollins against Kevin Owens and Samoa Joe. As of now, he is one of the favorites and most successful WWE wrestlers. In the first episode of 2018, Balor defeated Elias and The Miztourage by teaming with Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows in a six-man tag team match. The victory made the trio together and later it was announced that the trio has reunited and formed Balor Club. The club defeated Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns who were Raw Tag Team Champion and Intercontinental Champion respectively at that time. At the Royal Rumble, Balor eliminated four wrestlers and last in the ring for about 57 minutes. He was eliminated by John Cena.


During a Fatal 5-Way match between Balor, Bray Wyatt, Matt Hardy, Seth Rollins and Apollo Crews, Balor and Rollins pinned Wyatt at the same time which created confusion about the real winner on the February 12 episode of Raw. Raw’s general manager Kurt Angle declared that both the participants would enter the Chamber match.

He wrestled into a Gauntlet match and defeated Elias but lost the match to The Miz. In the first 7-man Elimination Chamber match, he was eliminated by Braun Strowman. He was also the part of WrestleMania 34 fighting against Seth Rollins and The Miz in a triple threat match. Balor again challenged Rollins for Intercontinental Championship on the April’s last episode of Raw but was unsuccessful. In a triple threat match, he defeated Sami Zayn and Roman Reigns to get qualified for the Money in the Bank ladder match.

However, the Money in the Bank ladder match was won by Strowman. After the Money in the Bank, he was involved in a feud with Baron Corbin. They fight at Extreme Rules, Balor won the match. Appearing under his “Demon King” persona, Balor defeated Baron Corbin in the rematch at SummerSlam.

Balor developed a feud with Drew McIntyre in November 2018. He became the part of Team Raw at Survivor Series but became the first wrestler to get eliminated. At the TLC event, Balor defeated McIntyre who was interrupted by Dolph Ziggler on 16 December. For revenge, McIntyre attacked Balor and Ziggler in their match held in the following night on Raw. The triple threat match was held on December 24, 2018, edition of Raw where Balor turned as the winner.

Braun Strowman got removed from the match for Universal Championship title at the Royal Rumble against Lesnar because he damaged Vince McMahon’s luxurious limo. A fatal-4 way match was held to determine the replacer to Strowman which includes Balor, McIntyre, Corbin and Cena. Balor was the winner of the match and moved straight at the Royal Rumble to face Brock Lesnar. Despite giving his best performance, Balor lost the match and was also assaulted by Lesnar.

He was interrupted by Bobby Lashley and Lio Rush on the Raw episode of 28 January while he was addressing his loss. He was attacked by Lashley subsequently which created a feud between them. Balor was put in a ring against Lashley and Rush in a two-on-one handicap match making him capture the Intercontinental Championship. In a rematch on the March 11 edition of Raw, Balor lost to Lashley due to the interference from Rush.

To earn a rematch for the Intercontinental title at WrestleMania 35, he was able to defeat Jinder Mahal and Lashley on 25 March edition of Raw. He regained the Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania where he used his “Demon” persona. He also defeated Sami Zayn in the following night of Raw. He used his “Demon” persona in a match against Andrade at Super ShowDown to defend his title. He was later defeated by Wyatt in a singles match at SummerSlam. Balor disappeared from television for few months and made his return on the 2 October episode of NXT.
