Early Life and Education

Guillermo Ochoa was born in 1985 in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. He was born to the parents named Guillermo Ochoa Sánchez (father) and Natalia Magaña Orozco (mother). He grew up in an athletic environment with full support from his guardian and teammates.


Career and Professional Life

The International Federation of Football History named Guillermo Ochoa as the 2000-2010 Best Mexican Goalkeeper. He started his professional football career by being in the Mexican team Club America. He was at the age of 19 at that time. He was with the team until 2011 during Clausura 2011.


After America, Ochoa made a three-year contract with a Frenc club named Ajaccio. The contract was made on 4 July 2011, which includes an additional one year option. On 1 August 2014, Ochoa signed a three-year contract with Málaga which is a Spanish La Liga club. He made his La Liga debut on 5 March 2016, where he played a draw match against Deportivo La Coruña. After the expiry of the contract with Málaga, the Mexican goalkeeper was acquired by Granada on a season-long loan. The goalkeeper later came into the two-year contract with Belgian club Standard Liège which was announced on 9 July 2017.

2014 FIFA World Cup

He was named in Mexico’s 23-man squad for the 2014 World Cup on 9 May 2014. The first match of Mexico was against Cameron which ended with a win of 1-0 on 13 June. The first match of Mexico on FIFA World Cup 2014 was the debut match for Ochoa for World Cup. During the match against Brazil on 17 June, the goalkeeper was able to make four notable saves for his team which include a powerful header from Neymar. The match ended with a draw of 0-0 and the credit goes to the brilliant performance of Ochoa for which he was named the man of the match. He was praised and appreciated by the entire football world including the appreciation from Brazil’s head coach named Luiz Felipe Scolari.
