Force was always passionate about sports from his school days. First, he put his control over the Jack Chrisman-built Night Stalker Mustang in 1971. He drove a Corvette as well as a Monza in his early racing career. After that, he switched to an Oldsmobile Cutlass in the 1980s.

From 1997 he served as a Ford driver and team owner until 2014. Just before that, he had earn sixty-seven of six World Championships, 203 NHRA national events and four of nine Big Bud Shootouts.

He was also sponsored by BP’s Castrol brand in 2000 and his relationship with the brand continued until 2014. His nickname “Brute Force” was given to him after the victory over his fourth Funny Car title in 1994.

Force made 5 events in his name in 2005 finishing third in the championship standings. The following year, he earned his 14th NHRA World Funny Car Championship. His partnership with Chevrolet was announced in 2015 and the same year, he grabbed a new sponsorship deal from Peak Antifreeze.
