Early career

He played for the National Football League for the San Diego Chargers after completing his graduation. He also worked at Revere High School where he helped and deaf children and children with behavioral problems learn Mathematics and English.

He met wrestler and wrestling trainer Killer Kowalski whom he expressed his desire from childhood to pursue a professional wrestling career. After this, Bloom quit teaching and joined Kowalski’s school where he started receiving training.

Wrestling career

On May 15, 1998, he made his wrestling debut in the WWA (World Wrestling All-Stars) by facing Tiger Ali Singh. He appeared in NWA (National Wrestling Alliance) losing to Shawn Stasiak in his debut match. He teamed with Bull Pain for the NWA OVW Southern tag team titles against Nick Dinsmore and Rob Conway. Later, he started using a gimmick where he wore a fur rug to the ring with ring name Baldo.

He was later hired by World Wrestling Federation after being introduced to talent scout Tom Prichard. He was assigned to the Power Pro Wrestling (PPW) developmental territory after receiving additional training from Dory Funk, Jr. He earned the Heavyweight Championship and the Young Guns Championship during his time in Power Pro Wrestling. He won the inaugural PPW Heavyweight champion by defeating Jerry Lawler with whom he was having a long feud.

On April 11, 1999, episode of Sunday Night Heat, he made his WWF televised debut where he saved Droz. He was introduced as Prince Albert and teamed with Droz and started a feud with Big Bossman who later formed a team with Bull Buchanan.

He formed a stable named X-Factor in April 2001 with X-Pac and Justin Credible. He defeated Kane the June 28 episode of SmackDown! with the help of Diamond Dallas Page making him become the WWF Intercontinental Championship. Later, Justin Credible left X-Factor after which he and X-Pac continued X-Factor as a tag team.

He was nicknamed “The Hip Hop Hippo” after teaming with Scotty 2 Hotty in late 2001. They were assigned to the SmackDown! brand but their team disbanded on the April 4 episode when they failed to defeat Billy and Chuck.

Later, he joined forces with Paul Heyman and Big Show after which he was renamed A-Train. He teamed with Big Show in a losing effort to The Undertaker at WrestleMania XIX. On October 19, 2003, at No Mercy, he lost to Chris Benoit.

He joined Brock Lesnar’s team on November 16, 2003, to face Kurt Angle’s team in a ten-man Survivor Series match. He participated in the 2004 Royal Rumble match where he got eliminated by Chris Benoit. In January 2014, he started working in WWE’s developmental territory NXT as a commentator. He went to decide his in-ring retirement on August 7, 2014.
