He started his wrestling career in 1994 and initially worked for the independent circuit. He also worked for the Organization of Modern Extreme Grappling Arts, which was operated by wrestler brothers Jeff and Matt Hardy. He made his Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW) debut in 1998 as a heel manager.
